What are EMFs?EMF stands for electromagnetic field, which is a physical field that is generated by an object that is electrically charged. They are present nearly everywhere on our planet. Even our own bodies emit EMFs. The issue is that artificial EMFs, the ones generated by things like power lines, cell phones, WIFI routers, TVs, are much more intense and not what our bodies evolved with over time.
We are exposed to low frequency EMFs on a much larger scale now than natural evolution ever anticipated. Low level EMFs, like the radio frequency radiation your cell phone emits, directly affects your body. California has even gone so far as to warn consumers now that cell phone use close to your noggin has shown to have long-term effects on the body like increasing your risk of cancer.

This week on The Positively Green Podcast we have organic skincare formulator Emma, founder of The Sunday Standard. As someone who has dealt with acne-prone skin her whole life, chatting with Emma about her nourishing facial oils was so enlightening. I've been implementing the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) for nearly six years and Emma took my understanding of why it works to a whole new level. If you've been curious how OCM works or you have been trying it for a while and want to take it a step further, this episode is for you!
The Sunday Standard is a beauty brand based in Milwaukee, WI. Emma's products are made with non-toxic, plant-derived ingredients and are formulated to heal blemish-prone skin from the inside out. In this episode we discuss:

On today’s episode of the Positively Green Podcast we have special guest, Kate Eskuri. We chat about a ton of topics including integrative medicine and Kate’s best tips for holistic sleep. We love Kate because she balances the "woo" with the solid science, creating a safe and accessible balance between eastern and western medicine.
Kate is a Minnesota girl, registered nurse, holistic health junkie, and the voice behind The Foundation Blog, a modern woman's guide to all things slow living, integrative health, and holistic self-care. Kate got her nursing degree at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where competed in Division I track, graduated with honors and completed years of health research introducing yoga to older female adults. Upon graduating and working as an RN at the Mayo Clinic ICU, Kate felt a longing to specialize in holistic health.
Kate is currently getting her doctorate degree in Integrative Health and Healing and is passionate about helping women maximize their health by simple + foundational health practices: quality nutrition, natural remedies, mindset-shifts, and holistic practices. Kate's healthcare experience is a unique blend of Western and Eastern. Having worked in an ICU setting and also studying integrative health, she believes in the miracle of modern medicine, but also encourages patients to get back to their "roots" of quality nutrition, slow living, and being intentional with their health.
In this episode we discuss:

If you have been on the path or curious about healing your body holistically, there are five incredibly important things to know as you go on your holistic living journey. These crucial discoveries took me by complete surprise as I healed myself holistically over the last ten years (yes ten!).
I’ve conquered adult acne, Celiacs, gut dysbiosis, and adrenal fatigue all from a holistic perspective. I wish someone would have gently told me these five things right away when I started so I could have saved myself from mountains of frustration. So today I want to share them with you, so you can heal faster and with more grace than I did. We did a three-day fast safely and effectively and the results were surprising. I want to share our fasting experience with you in hopes of demystifying fasting and ultimately give you the tools to try it for yourself.
First things first, if you have a significant other, it will be a million times easier to complete the three-day fast if they do it with you. Imagine you are on day two of not eating and your partner cooks up some pastured bacon and eggs in the morning. I swear to you that you will not last. Paul and I did our fasts together and it helped immensely to be able to share the experience with someone. Send your partner this post to encourage them to try it with you!
For those of us who deal with dysmenorrhea, aka periods from the seventh circle of hell, I’ve got a good line up of zero-waste and holistic period pain management options for you. When PMS rears its ugly head for many of us ladies, the conventional options are all we feel we have at our disposal to help manage the pain.
Thanks to my endometriosis, I’ve tweaked and tested so many snake oil remedies out there and have weeded out the ludicrous. I know every lady is different, but I hope some of these suggestions can bring you relief as you journey towards a more sustainable and zero-waste lifestyle. In my first post we talked about why it's important to have a toxin-free and eco-friendly menstruation cycle, in my second post we chatted about what zero-waste options you have for menstruation, and this final post covers all things period pain management. Enjoy! |
